A quick summary
For those of you who need a really abbreviated summary:
- Some PacketFlux SyncBoxes which were manufactured between 2017 and 2020 (inclusive) will likely stop providing reliable timing signals either on December 31st or January 1st of this year (2023/2024).
- The timing signals are essential to the proper operation of certain Cambium and other radios. Wireless ISP's (and others) may experience customer and/or network impacts as a result of these failures.
- Normal operation should resume after a reboot of the affected devices. As such, all affected devices will need to be rebooted if they fail.
- All affected devices should be marked with Revision J. Older devices won't be affected, newer devices should be ok.
- There are various steps one can take ahead of time to limit the impact of this event. This website documents those steps.
